Tomir WP - MC is not the name of an up-and-coming hip-hop artist; it's the name of one cool shoe from NNormal. Built on the platform of NNormal's Tomir shoe, this mid-height runner is a taller but not better-looking version of the Tomir WP - LC. If your day looks like mud with a chance of scree, this shoe will knock on your closet door to accompany you. It can only be assumed that this shoe is inspired by hard days in the mountains of Spain, long days in the mountains of Norway, and muddy days wherever inclement weather exists. Offering more ankle support with its mid-height build, this shoe is also primed for hiking and backpacking. The 40k Sympatex® membrane is waterproof and windproof for ultimate protection in sub-ideal conditions.

SkyRun Fit Tip: The Tomir WP MC is true and sold in US men's sizes. (Ladies, please size down one full US size)

  • 40k waterproof Sympatex® membrane will keep you dry and warm.
  • Vibram Megagrip outsole uses Vibram's Litebase material to cut weight without compromising durability.
  • Mid-height build offers extra ankle support in uneven terrain.
  • Ripstop upper protects the waterproof membrane and is highly abrasion resistant.

Question from Kevin

I’m looking for a shoe for late spring scrambles with a mix of snow and rock. I tried the La Sportiva Cyklon but for the shoe didn’t fit. Is this shoe comparable in terms of waterproofness? Thinking with a gaiter, this shoe might work? I can imagine even needed to strap snowshoes on at times. Would this shoe work for that application or should I be looking for a more built up mountaineering type boot?

Answer from Niko M

Hi Kevin!
I think this shoe is up for the task! With a 40k waterproof membrane, these are approaching as waterproof as possible while still offering breathability. Add a gaiter and you've got some very capable mountain shoes. Additionally, when the conditions call for it, these can be used with snowshoes with little trouble. There are certainly some benefits to a proper mountaineering boot, but I think you'd come to appreciate the weight savings and agility gained by comparison. Thanks!

Hi Olesia, yes on both counts. The WP means Waterproof and size 9 would be right for you.

Excellent shoe for everything from trail running to backpacking on muddy, snowy, and rocky trails. Very comfortable and durable. Funny-looking lacing system works well. I would certainly purchase another pair if these ever wear out.

Question from Bill

How does the last fit as far as width. I’ve been running in Altras but need a shoe for scrambling. Thanks.

Answer from Gabriel I

Hi Bill, the last on the Tomir is solidly medium, certainly not as wide as most Altra models. Other wider models you might look into are the Dynafit Ultra 50, Mammut Sertig II, or the La Sportiva Cyklon. Please feel free to reach out to skyrun@skimo.co to get into more fit details!
