SCARPA Spin Ultra 2
The Spin Ultra was SCARPA's most popular and ubiquitous shoe model for several years running - pun intended - so they decided to one-up themselves with the Spin Ultra 2! They've lightened up this version and used more eco-friendly materials to stay in line with the times, adding multiple upgrades along the way. The Spin Ultra 2 now features a more aggressive tread, deeper lugs, 3D-printed reinforcements, Super Critical TPEE foam, and new, grippier rubber underfoot. Added rocker and a lower drop compliment your natural stride, quickening your turnover. The Spin Ultra 2 will be great for everyday training or a shoo-in for your next 100-miler.

Questions & Reviews
But the main thing is, the upper is unusually comfortable on the top of my foot. I don't really know why, but even on a hot 22 mile run, it just felt good and comfortable. Plus, there seems to be almost an "energy return" on steep downhills, which isn't something I've ever noticed in a shoe before. But I find I'm just a tiny bit more "airborne" with them.
Tread for my mostly single track and steep fire roads is great, and while they're maybe not the absolutely most nimble shoes on more technical terrain, they still do a great job on that, too. I have complete confidence in them for any kind of terrain, although I haven't worn them in the rain/on anything wet (got them after the rain stopped where I live).
So I love them, and look forward to a summer of running in them.
The original spin ultra was small fitting. I am a 42.5 (27cm) in the Goldengate for example, but wear a 43 in the old spin ultra. Can you confirm whether they are true to fit, or whether I need to go a half size up like the old spin ultra?
The new Spin Ultra 2 does fit about a half size bigger than the original Spin Ultra! If you sized up a half size in the older model for a comfortable fit, I would guess you can size normally for this one.
I think in some ways, it is! I examined all three shoes next to each other, and the Spin Ultra 2 does seem to parallel the design of the Spin Planet (I think more than the Spin Ultra). The toe box of the Spin Ultra 2 resembles the Spin Planet more than the older Spin Ultra (it's more tapered), as does the tongue. The midsole of the Spin Ultra 2 is also shaped more like the Spin Planet underfoot, rather than the original Spin Ultra, which pinches in more under the arch.
Overall, they are still distinct shoes, but I do think that the new Spin Ultra 2 has inherited many of the positive traits of the Spin Planet! It's just a bit lighter, the upper is softer and more flexible, and the foam is different (and should be bouncier and more responsive).
The Spin Ultra 2 is slated to ship out on the 1st of April. If you select "notify me" near the top of the page, you will get an email as soon as we get them in.
