Is more always better? In the case of Altra's Mont Blanc BOA shoe, the answer is, "Yes!" Two BOAs mean twice as much security and a very precise fit. But don't let the high-tech knobs distract you from everything else this shoe has to offer. Using Altra's well-known Balanced Cushion to create zero drop from heel to toe, this platform will help you run more comfortably with a more natural gait. The Standard FootShape design gives extra room in the toe box to allow your foot to sit and move more naturally. The 30mm stack height comes from a combination of an Altra EGO™ MAX material in the midsole and a Vibram LiteBase outsole. This kind of cushion lends itself well to long-distance races and big days on the trail. Stop lacing up, dial it in instead with Altra's Mont Blanc BOA shoe.
SkyRun Fit Tip - We have found the Mont Blanc BOA to be true to size. If you are between sizes, we would advise sizing up by 1/2 US size.
Vibram LiteBase outsole cuts weight by 30% over non-LiteBase outsoles.
Dual BOA closure gives a precise fit with two distinct adjustment zones.
Altra EGO™ MAX midsole offers maximum cushion and a bit more rebound to propel you with every stride.
FootShape design allows your foot to sit more naturally in the shoe.
Balanced Cushioning approach leads to a more natural gait through the zero drop platform.
This shoe is incredible in so many ways. No matter what people say- boa in running shoes is not a gimmick. The ability to change the fit on the fly is amazing. The way you can easily adjust the shape of the upper through tightening or loosening the dials. Yes you can do that with your laces- but come on- who wants to do that? So irritating! They feel cushy yet have good ground feel. The upper is light but not uncomfortable. Ok, after the positive- here’s the drawbacks. The first one is this, zero drop shoes- while they are supposedly “healthier” on your feet they can feel ruff on the Achilles for uphills. I did not notice an issue on the uphill while speed hiking- but definitely felt it while running uphill. Maybe I just need stronger Achilles- take this as you will but I personally really like some support on the uphill. Second one, I feel a 200$ price is a little ridiculous to not have a carbon plate. I understand that boa dials are a premium feature but the price still seems wrong to me given that every other super shoe has one. Third and last negative. This is a me issue. I found that the shape of the heel dug the bottom edge of the heel into the back of my ankle. Just something to think about.
Hi Talmage, thanks for the feedback! I guess you have to add another $50 to get the carbon plate version.

Just wanted to review my review after the wise feedback from Carlos at Skimo Co. Thanks to you Carlos. I thought that the Mont Blanc Boa was marketed has a super shoe, however I was incorrect, it is marketed as a long distance trail shoe. If you want a Carbon Plate you can get the Mont Blanc Carbon which gives you the plate but you lose the boa. If you want both features I do know that Speedland gives you both of them but that comes at a hefty price. With this new perspective I would give the Mont Blanc Boa a 4/5 subtracting one star because of the fit issues, which is a me problem so I'd highly encourage you to try them for your self as they are a great shoe in so many ways! Thank you Skimo Co and your employees for making an incredible store and online resources. Theres nothing quite like you out there! 6/5 for Skimo Co.

Nick (used product regularly)
These shoes have been great, and the BOA system seems to have solved my issue of re-tieing my shoes multiple times during the downhills. And, the wide toe box is great for my foot shape. However, I’m at mile 80-90 on them, and the bottom tread almost came off completely. This happened on descending the east side of Granduer which is a relatively tame(not technical and no particularly rocky sections). Prior to this, the seams on the side have started to come undone as well. I was just hoping for a little more life out a $200 pair of shoes. Durability seems to be an issue.
