What do the words sloppy, painful, and insecure have to do with the Salomon ULTRA GLIDE? Absolutely nothing. Normally known for their technical trail shoes, Salomon set their sights on creating the ultimate long-distance shoe by emphasizing the antonyms to those irrelevant adjectives (see: fit, comfort, and grip.) Oh, and lightweight too. Can’t forget that one. So with the odds stacked against them, did they manage to make a unicorn of a distance shoe? Of course they did! The cushy midsole features a lightweight, responsive foam that they’re calling Energy Surge. This makes the ride of the shoe comfortable like you’d expect with a high stack height, but delivers a bouncy energy return with each step. The rockered outsole makes it feel like you’re floating on a cloud as you romp through the mountains. Ol’ reliable Contagrip outsole provides proven ample traction on all sorts of trail types. As for the uppers, they’re just wonderful. The SensiFit wings gently wrap your foot for a secure-yet-snug fit. The breathable 3D mesh prevents your feet from overheating by allowing heat to easily escape. However, that’s a one-way street only as the Profeel Film blocks any trail debris looking to enter through the mesh. And like a cherry on top, runners will enjoy the easy peasy Quicklace system. Blissfully glide through your next run - whether it’s a 5k, 50k, or a Forrest Gump coast to coast - with the Salomon ULTRA GLIDE.
Also available in a wide version so that the “normal” footed folks aren’t the only ones who get to enjoy euphoric distance running in this shoe!
