Salomon S/Lab Ultra 3 V2 Shoe
Ultrarunners need a shoe that is committed to the long haul - ample cushion, durability, protection, and support - all without weighing you down. Thankfully, the Salomon S/Lab Ultra 3 V2 has got your back, err, feet. The trademark of any ultra shoe is lots of cushion but unfortunately, sometimes that means energy-sapping squish. Not here. EnergyCell+ is a durable high-rebound midsole compound that not only brings the cushion but is also designed to provide springy energy return. And since ultras often run the gamut (pun intended) of trail conditions, a diverse outsole like the Contagrip MA is ideal for tackling everything from wet and loose to dry and rocky. The new Matryx® mesh upper is breathable, yet abrasion-resistant while an integrated gaiter fends off trail debris from entering the shoe. For those long days on trail, the Salomon S/Lab Ultra 3 V2 is a fully-featured, lightweight shoe that won’t squander an ounce of your energy.

Questions & Reviews
The midsole is on the firmer/more responsive side, and the shoe rides relatively low, which works very well in technical terrain. It is a very nimble and quick-feeling shoe, and it's very stable. There is enough cushion for long days, and the rock protection is excellent. There is a short break-in period for the midsole.
Durability-wise, I think the upper and midsole will last a very long time. The only disclaimer I would put on this shoe is that the outsole is very race-oriented, so the lugs are small and spaced apart, and the rubber is fairly soft. If your foot strike tends to drag/wear the outsole in particular spots, I think this outsole will wear relatively quickly.
If you fill out our shoe fitter, we'd be happy to make size recommendations for those or other shoes.
Thank you for the insight here. I'll be ordering a pair of the Genesis!
