SCOTT Supertrac Ultra RC Shoe
You might think that because it has the word “ultra” in it, SCOTT just slapped some extra cushion on a regular running shoe and called it good. Lucky for us, SCOTT doesn’t roll like that and they really focused on the needs of ultra runners when making the Supertrac Ultra RC. As a result, this shoe is dialed in more ways than one so that when you’re out there all day (and night), your shoes aren’t a liability. For starters, they took a look at the outsole to make sure it provided the grip and stability necessary for ultra marathons. The center part of the lug configuration provides much-needed traction in all sorts of terrain - from wet mud to rugged boulder fields. On the outside of the sole, however, chevrons are placed for stability and support. And since running long-distance doesn’t need to be any more arduous than it already is, the uppers are made up of Schoeller’s 4-way Dynamic fabric. That way, it’s durable, breathable, and incredibly comfortable. And finally, there’s the bigger stack height (it is an ultra shoe, after all). But it’s not just any cushion, SCOTT’s AeroFoam+ ensures that the cushion used isn’t dead and spongy - it provides dynamic rebound and durability. If you’re going the extra mile, let the SCOTT Supertrac Ultra RC lead the way.

Questions & Reviews
so I loved the Speed cross 4's but nothing since then has come close. I got these on the recommendation of one of the people at Skyrun. I don't love them as much as my speed cross 4 but they are the next best thing. After trying Topo, Speed cross 6 and other shoes my toes kept hitting in the toe box in different ways for a variety of reasons. These fit nice and are the closest thing to the speed cross 4's I have found. They also hurt my eyes they are so bright.
This gal ranks them 2 thumbs up!
Overall, I'm a fan! I don't think these are really a general purpose trail shoe, they have a bit of a niche which I will attempt to describe. First, they are narrow and low volume, so if you have wide feet, probably not for you. But for folks with narrow feet and especially with more tapered toes, they offer a very secure and comfy fit. There is a little bit of a break in period where the upper softens up, I'd say around 10-15 miles.
With a higher stack height and deep lugs, as well as a very sturdy rand and upper, these are an extremely protective shoe and they have great traction on loose and muddy terrain, and do quite well in snow as well. They are on the stiffer side, so they run right over sharp rocks and scree with no issue. The midsole has enough cushion for longer runs, and has a nice springy feel to it, without feeling soft. They feel good to run in and can handle any runnable terrain, although they are overkill for some. I haven't run in them long enough to test long term durability, but the build quality is very good and the shoe feels extremely and durable.
I think the niche for this shoe is as a very protective, very secure fitting shoe for moderate to technical trails, especially in alpine terrain. They would make a great fastpacking or hiking shoe as well as a runner. The lugs are deeper than I would want for a running shoe on strictly mellow terrain, but for adverse conditions and loose/muddy terrain, they excel.
They won't be my daily driver for more casual trails and fitness, but I will be reaching for them when I go for longer runs in loose/rough terrain, if there's snow on the trails, or for fastpacking and hiking adventures in the mountains.
