In the beginning, there was the S/Lab Genesis. Now in its second iteration, cleverly named the S/Lab Genesis 2, Salomon made some subtle tweaks, resulting in an even more capable shoe that doesn't sacrifice what made the original so compelling. With a reengineered Contigrip outsole, Salomon increased traction compared to its predecessor, making it ideal for days spent traversing a technical alpine ridgeline. The activeCHASSIS features a firmer midsole insert, providing stability on rough terrain without compromising comfort. The hardwearing Matryx upper is exceptionally durable for its weight, helping shrug off rocks, roots, and other detritus. The Endofit construction creates a highly secure, comfortable fit that evenly envelops the foot, while the Quicklace system makes it easy to find the right amount of tension. If your ideal day out includes crushing vert, moderate ridgeline scrambles, and covering gnarly terrain over long distances, Salomon created the Genesis 2 specially for you.

SkyRun Fit Tip - The S/Lab Genesis 2 fits true to your measured US size. If you're between sizes, round down. (All S/LAB products are listed in male US sizes - Ladies, please choose 1 full size down.)

  • Contigrip outsole provides reliable traction on rock and loose terrain.
  • activeCHASSIS uses a stiffer midsole insert to provide stability on uneven terrain.
  • Endofit with Quicklace system evenly wraps the foot for a secure fit.

Easily the best trail shoe I have ever run in. My favorite trail shoe before this one was the first Genesis version and I can honestly say this S Lab Genesis 2 version is a major improvement. The slightly wider toe box lets my toes splay some while keeping my foot in the same kind of perfect sock like lockdown of the first shoe. My first time running in it was doing the Wasatch trail Alta long course race yesterday and it felt perfect! It's responsive with complete control/trail grip on the up and down while feeling ridiculously fast under foot. To compare I've run the exact same Alta course a few weeks back in the Nike ACG Zagamas(a shoe I really like) and I was 5 minutes slower in the Zagamas! I've also run in trail super shoes like the Nike ACG Ultrafly and Adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra 2 and felt slower in both of those then this S-Lab Genesis 2. And I really like those shoes, but those are great/fast on gravel and on easy trails but anything slightly technical and this extremely nimble Genesis 2 seriously outdoes them. In my mind the coushining is great too, you feel totally protected from the ground but at the same time still have good ground feel, which helps makes one naturally pick up cadence on trail to run faster. Obviously you can also run slow in this shoe and it still feels fantastic but this shoe just makes you want to pick up the pace. And lastly I absolutely love the way it looks in black with red accents.
