The protective rubber rand insulates you from all the sharp things out to get you, and Salewa's 3F system helps lock your heel down and stabilize your foot. Climbing-influenced lacing draws the upper tightly so you don't have any slop while pulling technical moves. The shoe comes together with a new Matryx upper, a material which has come to dominate the trail-running world due to its low stretch properties and excellent breathability. Matryx is durable, pliable, and doesn't stretch, so you can be assured that your nice snug fit won't loosen over miles of use. And if you do happen to get your feet wet, Matryx mesh drains quickly and breathes great, so your socks dry expeditiously.
