I've been testing out the new Core 2 on my work Aria headlamp, and it is a good improvement over the Core 1.0 with no apparent downsides. As the world standardizes to USB-c, it is really nice to not have to worry about carrying an extra cord around the world just for one device.

Petzl CORE 2 Headlamp Battery
The Petzl CORE 2 Battery replaces the micro-USB charging port on the original CORE Battery with a more modern USB-C port, making it even easier to keep your Petzl lighting devices fully charged. With a 1250 mAh capacity, the CORE 2 will be a light to you in dark places, when all other lights go out*. For multi-night feats of endurance, the battery can be recharged using a ubiquitous USB-C cord - likely the same cord that your phone uses. Like standard AAA batteries, the CORE 2 can be swapped out in the field for a backup CORE 2 or 3 AAA batteries should your light go out while in use. The CORE 2 has a lifespan equivalent to 900 single-use AAA batteries, so you can feel good about your environmental impact while purchasing a coffee or tasty treat, thanks to the money saved by not having to buy replacement batteries.
- Works with the TIKKID, TIKKINA, TIKKA, TIKKA CORE, ACTIK, ACTIK CORE (post-2017 versions), ARIA 1R RGB, ARIA 2R RGB, IKO, and IKO CORE headlamps.

*Unfortunately, chanting "aiya Eärendil elenion ancalima!" will not make your light any brighter, as Petzl has yet to implement this feature.
