Ozone Ultralite X
Intriguing as it sounds, we don't recommend flying your speedwing with a pod harness or speedriding your tandem wing solo. But putting the most performant and beloved speedwing risers on one of the lightest and most reliable miniwings on the market? Oh yeah. Based on the successful Ultralite 5 miniwing platform, Ozone's Ultralite X replaces the Dyneema, speedbar-actuating risers with trimmer-equipped, smooth-operating speedwing-style risers adapted from the renowned R3X platform. Releasing the trimmers decreases the wing's angle of attack for more depower on inflation, better glide performance into a headwind, and more speed converted into smooth flare on landing. With a slightly shortened 8cm trim range, the canopy remains impressively stable and pressurized with trims open, even when flying on brakes. That said, this wing begs to be flown on rear risers or B/C bridge while the trimmers are out: the nearly frictionless riser bridge features a 3-to-1 Dyneema pulley system for inputs smoother than Michael Jackson's moonwalk. With speedwing-style risers, relatively short lines, and sizes down to 11m2 available, Ozone's Ultralite X is a lightweight and technical mountain flying menace meant to take on the most challenging missions.
- The cool factor has gone through the roof: Ozone's Ultralite 5 platform now comes with speedwing-style risers.
- The trimmer system allows depowered deflations, better glide into stout headwinds, and long, smooth landing flares.
- Incredibly smooth and responsive to riser bridge piloting when the 8cm trimmers are open.
- The Ultralite X canopy profile is stable enough to be piloted on brakes, even while fully accelerated.
- A new, frictionless rollercam buckle facilitates smooth trimmer operation, so you're less likely to find yourself only half-dumped.
