I've had three pairs of Mutants over the years, they are one of my all time favorite mountain shoes. They do take a bit longer to break in than some other trail shoes, but it seems like they have better durability as a result of that. My only complaint is that on my most recent pair (orange topo style), the heel loop on one shoe tore off after pulling the shoes on one day. The heel pocket is so tight and locked in, you need a burly pull-on loop to get your feet in. Its possible that I was going too hard tho...
