My Running
I'm a beginner on the ultrarunning. I did one camp and one race. I have a high-altitude training camp coming up, and then a Nepal trip with two 20k ft peaks plus one ultrarunning race. I am a 67-year-old age-group triathlete. Each week, I exercise daily: one swim and two each of bike, run, and strength training. 10-12 hours of training per week. This keeps me fit enough for a T100 or an Ironman 70.3. It's my therapy. I came in sixth in my age group in Ironman California out of 48 entries (12 DNF, 4 DNS). My times of 14:03:49 total, 1:03:39 swim, 6:27:15 bike, 5:49:56 run. When I do it again in 2027, I am sure I will be slower. Such is age.
My Gear
I get all my gear from Skimo.co (backcountry and trail running). They are the best. I have two backcountry rigs:
Movement Fast 71 Ski, , mid-sidecut 71; Hagan Ultra World Cup Binding
Blizzard Zero G 105 Ski, mid-sidecut 103; Dynafit ST Rotation 10 Binding 105
Today, I sent them an email saying I needed crampons. Within an hour I had the perfect equipment in my Cart. I got just what I needed with a single click. That's service! The staff know what they are talking about from using the gear, not from reading the marketing. Skimo and Skyrun are the best!!
