I'll start by stating that I never owned the first version, so I can't compare side by side, just comparison based on what I've heard. I've worn these on a couple long runs, and immediately I felt like these were the shoes that my summer will probably revolve around. Very comfortable, the upper fits great on my foot, and I've had zero issues with hot spotting or anything digging into my foot. I love the razor tooth laces, they hug and hold perfectly.
